The Graduate School of Public Policy conducted an Executive Education program on “Sustainable Development and Urban Planning” on 7-8 December 2017.
Professor Colin Knox, Visiting Professor Karl O’Connor and Professor Saltanat Janenova held a seminar on “Open Government: International Practice and Experience of the West Kazakhstan Region” in Uralsk.
GSPP hosted the Alumni Re-Union Dinner on 25 November 2017. Mr Berik Sakbayuly Aryn, Vice-Minister of Religious Affairs and Civil Society of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Dean Weng Tat Hui gave the opening remarks.
GSPP and Nazarbayev University’s School of Humanities and Social Sciences, together with the Institute of Diplomacy at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Kazakhstan Council on International Relations jointly organized a forum to discuss approaches towards Afghanistan from major external players and also to assess Afghanistan’s impact on the greater Central Asian region. Speakers reflected on internal domestic issues in Afghanistan and foreign policies towards it, as well as the country’s involvement with regional organizations and projects.
GSPP professors and Ph.D students took part in the conference “Public Councils: Problems and Perspectives of Development” that took place in Karaganda on 25 September 2017. The conference was organized by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Civil Society of the RK, Committee on Civil Society Affairs and Private Foundation “Institute for Cultural Development” aimed at increasing effectiveness of the Public Councils in Kazakhstan.
