THE NU GSPP INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE  

SHIFTING BOUNDARIES IN GLOBAL AND LOCAL GOVERNANCE  

The Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Public Policy (hereinafter – NU GSPP) will hold its 7th annual conference on the theme Shifting Boundaries in Global and Local Governance and invites all interested parties to participate. The conference will take place at Nazarbayev University, Astana, Kazakhstan on May 29, 2023.

The 7th GSPP Conference will be a full one-day event with several panel sessions and invited notable speakers in the field of governance and public administration. 

The Conference will cover the following areas:

  • Open government: Accountability and Participation
  • Government Performance and Policy Efficiency
  • EU and International Cooperation
  • Local Governance
  • Identity issues: Language, Frames, Narratives
  • Migration, Integration, and Polarization
  • Tourism and Economic Growth 

During the Conference there will be a book launch of Hearing State’ and ‘Just Kazakhstan’: Can Neoliberal Technocracy Reprogram the State?’ by Dr. Kuat Akizhanov.   

This event is designed to provide scholars and practitioners with quality educational and networking opportunities focused on good governance and economic diversification not only in the Central Asian context, but also globally. 

While the dynamic nature of governance will encourage new discussions for years and decades to come, the conference aims to inform and shape such debate.

Coffee breaks and a lunch break will be provided for the registered participants.
