About the Programme
Tourism plays a vital role in driving economic growth, reducing poverty, creating jobs, and facilitating technology transfer. In resource-rich countries, developing the tourism sector can significantly contribute to economic diversification. Effective tourism policy is a key element for the successful development of this industry.

This course aims to provide participants with an understanding of the policy tools that can foster a thriving tourism sector. Special attention will be given to the developmental benefits of tourism, which is why many developing countries have focused on expanding this industry in recent decades. The course will also explore the environmental impact of tourism and the importance of sustainable practices.

Participants will learn about different types of tourism, the significance of intra-destination movements, and the life cycle of tourism destinations—from exploration to rejuvenation or decline. Additional topics include tourism marketing, the role of social media, and the importance of training tourism professionals and destination experts.
