NU GSPP Seminar with Dr. Michaela Friberg-Storey “UN role in supporting Kazakhstan development priorities”

SYNOPSIS

The 2030 Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and improve the lives and prospects of everyone, everywhere. During the past three decades, the United Nations in Kazakhstan has supported the Government’s efforts to prepare and implement a large number of strategies, programmes, and legislation with focus on macro-economic reforms, socio-economic development, gender equality, health, and climate change. The successful history of the United Nations work in Kazakhstan is embedded in the history of Kazakhstan’s successful development. With just under ten years left to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, world leaders have called for a Decade of Action. With Kazakhstan’s role and development priorities changing, the work of the United System in Kazakhstan has too evolved.
