Good Governance and Development in Central Asia webinar by GSPP Professor and Vice Dean for Research Riccardo Pelizzo

GSPP Professor and Vice Dean for Research Riccardo Pelizzo presented a Good Governance and Development in Central Asia webinar within NU 10 year Anniversary on June 18, 2020.

The presentation explored the relationship between good governance and development in Central Asia. By doing so, one finds that progress along several good governance dimensions had no impact on the economic performance of the regions. In Central Asia, and, for that matter in all the Post Soviet states, political stability and the absence of violence were the only significant drivers of growth and development. What has secured development in the region may not be enough to secure a dynamic economic performance in the years to come. This is why progress along all the good governance dimensions is more important than ever before.
