Dr. Dayashankar Maurya, is an Associate Professor at the Graduate School of Public Policy, Nazarbayev University. He is a public policy, public management, and health policy researcher with training in Medicine, Healthcare Management, and Public Policy. He has close to 15 years of experience working in industry and academia. His industry experience comes from working for Private Hospitals, Public Health NGOs, UN agencies, and Policy consulting firms
His research is primarily concerned with public management reforms specially understanding interaction between public and private sector. His scholarship is primarily aimed at understanding how public and private sector can work together to address societal challenges. He has received awards such as Best Paper Prize Journal of Asian Public Policy 2020/21; Best Paper Award at IIMA Doctoral Colloquium; and Harwin Award for Academic Excellence, National University of Singapore. He has published papers in top-tier international journals such as Public Management Review and Social Policy & Administration.
Before joining GSPP, he worked as an Associate Professor at Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA), India. Before that he worked as Associate Professor in the Public Management and Policy Analysis Program, Graduate School of International Relations, International University of Japan. He also held a Chairperson MBA (Healthcare Management) position at T A Pai Management Institute, Manipal, India. He is the trustee for ARMMAN, a public health non-profit organization with operations in more than 20 states in India.
