GSPP organized international conference on Kazakhstan’s civil service model

Graduate School of Public Policy in collaboration with the Ministry of Civil Service Affairs and UNDP hosted an International conference “Nursultan Nazarbayev and Kazakhstan’s model of civil service” on January 28, 2016.

Deputy Head of President’s Administration Mr. Marat Beketayev, Minister for Civil Service Affairs Mr. Talgat Donakov, Department Head of EU Representative Office Mr. Jean-Louis Lavroff , UN Resident Coordinator Mr. Norimasa Shimomura talked on institutional transformations in Kazakhstan, issues of meritocracy and code of ethics and anti-corruption.

Further discussions in sections allowed participant civil servants, professionals and students exchange and deepen understanding of reforms being currently undertaken (new law on civil service, merit-based three-level recruitment to civil service, promotion on the basis of core competencies, norms on code of conduct).

Dean of GSPP Dr. Hui Weng Tat, Acting Vice Dean Dr. Riccardo Pelizzo, LKY School Vice Dean Dr. Eduardo Araral have also spoken at the sections of the role of GSPP as a research center for public policy reforms in Kazakhstan, transparency of civil service and leaders of different nations who built strong professional apparatus respectively.
