Attendance during Orientation Week
Dear students, please note attendance is compulsory for all orientation activities organized by GSPP including the Teambuilding sessions.
If you are unable to attend a session for any reason, you should inform your Program Manager in advance. Students who missed a compulsory session shall be considered as having missed the equivalent of 1 session/class of a course of Fall 2020.
Students are expected to attend all classes. Students who do not attend classes from the first day will be penalized or administratively withdrawn from the class.
Unexcused absences will be penalized by deducting 5% of the final grade for each unexcused class absence.
An unexcused absence is when students miss classes for reasons not accepted by the School. Arriving late or leaving class early without appropriate documentation/ justification will be counted as an unexcused absence. Some reasons for an unexcused absence include:
- Working at a job;
- Sleeping too late;
- Going on a business trip.
If unforeseen circumstances prevent attendance, student must notify the module/course instructor and Teaching Assistant, if any, in advance.
An example for an excused absence is:
- Student’s illness or injury.
If a student provides a medical certificate verified by University Health Center (UHC) then absence is counted as excused.
The time limit for submission of documentation for absences (including, but not limited to medical certificates) is 3 (three) working days after the condition preventing student from attending is over.
Medical certificates (or photocopy) issued by a clinic other than University Health Center have to be verified by UHC. After verification the Program Manager may inform respective faculty members.
In cases other than student’s illness (including but not limited to death of a family member), it is the course instructor who makes the decision on granting an excused absence after considering documentation provided by a student.
