Стефанос Ксенариос Жоғары мемлекеттік саясат мектебіне 2018 жылы қосылды. Ол су ресурстары мен климаттың өзгеруі саласындағы  мамандық бойынша экономист-эколог болып табылады. Стефанос Ксенариос доктор дәрежесін алған соң  Халықаралық су ресурстарын басқару  басқармасында (IWMI) маман ретінде  Индия мен Эфиопияда 3 жыл жұмыс істеді. Нәтижесінде Стефанос Ксенариос Оңтүстік Азияда климаттың өзгеруі мен ауылшаруашылығы саласында Норвегияның био-экономика институтының (НБЭИ) базасында  зерттеулер жүргізді,   сондай-ақ  Еуропадағы қауіпсіздік және ынтымақтастық ұйымының (ОБСЕ)  Бюросы жанында Тәжікстанда сумен жабдықтау және энергетикалық қауіпсіздік мәселелері бойынша бөлім бастығы болып жұмыс істеді. Назарбаев Университетіне келгенге дейін  Стефанос Ксенариос Орталық Азиядағы Университеттің бас ғылыми қызметкері болды, аймақтағы су, энергетикалық, құрылыс және қоршаған ортаны қорғау салаларында өзара іс-қимылды басқарды. Стефанос Ксенариос Орталық Азиядағы су ресурстары саласындағы зерттеулердің (CAJWR) бас редакторы, сондай-ақ су ресурстарының статистикасы мен экономикасы  бойынша халықаралық топтың мүшесі  болып табылады.
