Zhibek Jazykbayeva, MPP 2nd year: “For me personally, the exchange program opened many opportunities abroad, thus motivating me to broaden my horizons and not limit myself”

Recently we wrote about Temirlan Nurmoldaev, the 2nd year MPP student who studied on the exchange program at the KDI School of Public Policy and Management in Korea. Today we managed to contact Zhibek Jazykbayeva, who also shared her impressions from the learning experience.

“I was happy to receive the invitation letter to participate in the exchange program at the KDI School of Public Policy and Management in Korea. There was a careful selection among students for the program. The learning process proceeded in online format, and subsequently switched to a hyflex format. However, this did not affect the quality of education. The university in Korea is equipped with the appropriate technology to provide simultaneous learning for both online students and those who are present in the classroom. Various presentations, discussions, simulations of negotiations had a positive impact on the learning process.

I would especially like to note that most professors, in addition to academic experience, also have practical experience. Before coming to academia, many were professionally engaged in what they teach now. For example, a professor who taught the Political Economy of Development had previously worked in development organizations in poor and developing countries. Consequently, while teaching, professors shared not only their knowledge, but also their work experience.

For me personally, the exchange program opened many opportunities abroad, thus motivating me to broaden my horizons and not limit myself.”
