A NEW COHORT OF CIVIL SERVANTS WERE TRAINED WITHIN THE LEADER OF A NEW FORMATION PROGRAM

On July 19, 2021, there was held an official online closing ceremony of the Leader of a New Formation (LNF) program for the second cohort of civil servants implemented by the Academy of Public Administration (APA) under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Graduate School of Public Policy of Nazarbayev University (NU GSPP) in partnership with the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore.

During the educational program, which took place from April 19 to July 17, 2021, participants without interruption from their main duties built up their capacity and expanded their knowledge horizons, which they tried to reflect in 9 projects in three main areas: “Well-being of Сitizens”, “Quality of Institutions” and “Strong Economy”. This year, 76 senior civil servants took part in the LNF program: heads of central government bodies and local executive bodies, as well as heads of their structural divisions.

Altair Akhmetov, Head of the Public Administration Department at the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yerlan Abil, the Rector of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Weng Tat Hui, Dean of NU GSPP, and Marta Abdykalikova, Director of National School of Public Policy welcomed participants and congratulated on the successful completion of the training.

“We hope that you will apply the knowledge gained during this program for strategic planning and effective decision-making in your daily practice. Knowledge applied can change lives. When I was young, I leant one guiding principle: “Thinkers think, doers do. However, until thinkers start doing, and doers think, progress will be just another word in the overburdened vocabulary of talkers to talk”. In other words, progress requires both thinking and doing at all levels of public administration to improve the well-being of people in the Republic of Kazakhstan” – Weng Tat Hui, Dean of the NU GSPP noted in his speech.

At the end of the online closing ceremony Yerlan Abil, the rector of the APA, wished all the LNF participants success in their future work and handed over electronic certificates confirming the completion of capacity building courses.
